During the one year program of Computer Operator and Programming Assistant a candidate is trained on professional skills, trade knowledge and employability skills. In addition to this, a candidate has to undertake a project work and extracurricular activities to build up the confidence.

The trainee learns about trade tools, computer peripherals, internal components, basic DOS commands, Windows and Linux interface and its related software installation process. Trainees will work with MS Office package to create word documents, practice with excel sheets and get ideas to create a good power-point presentation, maintain database with MS Access. They will set up and configure a network system of an organization. They will use the internet to search information using browsers along with the official/social communication process. Trainees will create basic static web pages using HTML. Trainees can go on industrial visits or projects specified in the syllabus.

There are many options for making a career in government organizations such as railways, ONGC, NTPC, HPCL, GAIL, SAIL, municipal corporations, hydropower plants, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants etc. After completing 1 year in COPA (computer operator and programming assistant) you can work as a computer operator in school-college or corporate as an assistant programmer, lab assistant, hardware and networking assistant, computer trainer etc
