RPS Enthusiastically celebrates 8th International Yoga Day

Yoga is a trend that has flourished over the years; Rather it has become a trendsetter in maintaining both physical and mental health. On 21st June 2022, a wonderful Yoga session was held in Rungta Public School, that runs under the aegis of Sanjay Rungta Group of Institutions, creating awareness about the numerous benefits of Yoga among the students and the staff members.

Yoga is a priceless gift of ancient Indian tradition. The word “yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit root Yuj meaning “to join”, “join” or “to unite”, symbolizing the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between human beings and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being. A very energetic Yoga session was organised in the school premises as a part of the special assembly organised by Kalam House. The theme of International Yoga Day was well expounded through the thought of the day and a speech. The Yoga instructor, Ms. Surabhi Kapoor engaged the students effectively in the yoga session, reiterating the manifold benefits of this age-old practice for the mind as well as the body.

The theme of International Yoga Day 2022: The 8th International Yoga Day 2022 will be celebrated all over the world with the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The theme of the 8th IYD 2022 was announced by PM Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ webinar on 30 May 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of RPS, Mr. Manas Chatterjee stated that the benefits offered by yoga have been recognised in the recent years by the entire world for physical and mental well-being. It symbolizes the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment, harmony between man and nature. It offers a holistic approach to health and wellness and should be adopted as a regular practice in our lives.
