No Tobacco Day celebrated at Rungta Dental College

International No Tobacco Day was celebrated by the Department of PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY of RCDSR. This event is organized every year on 31 May at the call of the World Health Organization. Various events were organized in RCDSR on this occasion, which mainly included poster making, social media reels and debate competition.
A one-day workshop was also organized to provide training to dental surgeons on Tobacco Prohibition Day. Dr. Raj Diwan of Government Dental College had participated as a master trainer in the workshop. Dr. Raj Diwan is a nationally renowned speaker who keeps on organizing such awareness programs, especially for the prohibition of tobacco. In his speech, he explained how tobacco is addictive and how a dental surgeon can help a person suffering from this addiction.
The program was inaugurated by Sanjay Rungta, Chairman, SRGI and in his remarks he told how consuming tobacco affects not only an individual but his entire family. He also informed that the entire SRGI campus is a tobacco free campus. Dr. Karthik Krishna, Dean of RCDSR, while highlighting the ill-effects of tobacco told how tobacco use is taking a formidable form in India and is causing 8 lakh deaths every year in the present times.
Organizing in-charge Dr. Ram Tiwari gave a vote of thanks at the conclusion of the program.
